Play Triple Play 2001 Online
You pick pitches, swing with weirdly satisfying timing, and chase down fly balls that actually feel like baseball—somehow EA made this work on a tiny GBC screen. The Home Run Derby’s got that "one more try" hook when you barely miss the bleachers.

Game Overview
Triple Play 2001 was a weird little miracle—EA actually crammed a full MLB baseball game onto the Game Boy Color. You get all 30 teams from the 2000 season, real player names (no fake "J. Smith" nonsense), and even the stadiums, which somehow don’t all look identical. The graphics are about what you’d expect from a GBC sports game, but the pitching and batting mechanics actually feel decent once you get the timing down.
You’ve got two main ways to play: exhibition games where you tweak everything from innings to difficulty, and a Home Run Derby mode that’s way more addictive than it should be. Fielding takes some practice—there’s an assist toggle if you keep overthrowing to first base—but the curveballs actually break, and bunts work in a pinch. It’s not perfect, but for a handheld baseball fix in 2001, it did the job better than you’d think.
