Play Triple Play 2001 (USA, Europe) Online
Control a baseball team, pitch, bat, and field in quick nine-inning games to outscore your opponent in Triple Play 2001 for Game Boy Color.
Triple Play 2001 came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by EA Sports. It was one of the few baseball titles on the handheld, arriving at a time when sports sims on portable systems were still pretty basic. You didn't get deep franchise modes or real player names, but it offered a straightforward arcade take on baseball for people who wanted something quick to play.
You control a full baseball team, pitching, batting, and fielding across a full nine inning game. The main goal is to outscore your opponent, inning by inning. At the plate, you time your swing with the A button to make contact; while pitching, you aim with the D-pad and throw with B. Fielding is automatic once the ball is in play, with your players moving to intercept it on their own. The game moves briskly, with short at-bats and fast defensive sequences, though the AI can be challenging on higher difficulty settings. It feels satisfying to connect with a pitch and see your tiny player round the bases.
