I picked up Trivial Pursuit: Genus Edition for the Sega Master System back in 1993, a digital version of the classic board game released by Domark. It was a time when having a quiz game on a console felt like a novelty, a quiet alternative to the platformers and shooters that usually filled the screen. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just brought the familiar trivia experience into the living room without the setup or lost pieces.

You control a colored wedge, moving around a board by rolling a virtual die and answering questions across six categories: Geography, Entertainment, History, Art and Literature, Science and Nature, and Sports and Leisure. The main goal is to collect all six category wedges by correctly answering a question in each colored space before heading to the center to win. Key mechanics include choosing between multiple choice or true/false for some questions, and the pacing is entirely dependent on how quickly you or your opponents can recall facts. It feels exactly like the tabletop version, just with the convenience of not having to read the cards aloud yourself.
