Game Overview

Tsubasa Chronicle on the DS is one of those hidden gems that slipped under the radar for a lot of people. At first glance, it looks like your standard anime RPG—but the combat’s got this weirdly satisfying card-based system where you’re slapping down attacks and spells in real time. The story throws you right into the thick of it with Syaoran and Sakura hopping between dimensions, which honestly feels like a fever dream if you’re not already familiar with the manga.

What surprised me was how much strategy actually goes into battles. You can’t just mash buttons—timing your card plays and managing your deck makes fights way more engaging than I expected. The pixel art’s charming too, especially when the anime cutscenes pop in. Just a heads-up: it’s Japanese-only, but if you’re okay with that (or using a guide), it’s a solid little RPG with way more personality than most DS titles.
