Ultimate Sonic nails that classic Genesis-era Sonic feel—same speed, same loops, same "how did I just lose all my rings?!" frustration. You start with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow (yeah, Shadow’s here for some reason), and there are two secret characters to unlock if you dig around. The levels are packed with little nods to the old games, but with enough twists to keep you guessing.
Weirdly, the cheat codes are just... hidden in the levels? Like, you’ll smash a monitor and instead of rings, it’ll flash "UP, UP, DOWN, SPACE" on the screen. Feels like a throwback to playground rumors. And the password system is straight-up 90s—scribble down some gibberish after beating a zone or start over like a chump.
Time trial mode’s where it gets competitive. Tails is stupid fast downhill, but good luck nailing those jumps. Controls are tight: arrows to move, space to jump, and the classic spin dash (hold down + space). Just don’t blame me when you spend an hour trying to shave half a second off your best time.
