Universal Warrior came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Merit Studios. It was a side-scrolling action game typical of its time, with digitized sprites and a sci-fi setting that felt ambitious on the hardware.
You control a heavily armed mercenary navigating through hostile alien environments, room by room. Your main goal is to survive each stage, defeat enemies, and collect credits to upgrade your weapons and armor. Combat involves running, jumping, and shooting with a variety of firearms, while managing your limited health and ammunition. The pacing is tense; enemies respawn, and resources are scarce, forcing you to choose between pushing forward or retreating to safer areas. It feels like a constant scramble for survival where every shot and credit counts.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
