Game Overview

Universal Warrior (also known as The Machines on PC) is a top-down maze shooter inspired by classics like Gauntlet and Alien Breed, blending fast-paced action with strategic resource management. Players control a remote-operated robot, navigating maze-like levels filled with mechanical enemies while earning money to upgrade their equipment across five categories—enhancing firepower, speed, and durability. However, damage taken drains funds for repairs, rewarding careful play and tactical decision-making.

The game supports solo play, competitive two-player hot-seat mode, or cooperative split-screen, offering varied ways to experience its sci-fi challenges. While the Amiga and PC versions share core mechanics, they feature entirely different levels, adding replay value for fans. With its mix of arcade-style combat and economic strategy, Universal Warrior stands out as a unique entry in the MS-DOS gaming library.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
