Game Overview

I picked up Uno for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a handheld version of the card game developed by Realtime Associates. It was one of those simple, straightforward titles you'd play between bigger adventures, fitting right in with the pick-up-and-play style a lot of us enjoyed on the system.

You control your hand of cards, aiming to be the first to empty it while competing against up to three AI opponents. The core mechanics are all here: matching colors or numbers, playing action cards like Skips and Reverses to disrupt others, and saving Wild or Wild Draw Four cards for key moments. The AI can be surprisingly aggressive, often targeting the human player with strategic action cards just as you near victory. It feels tense and a little mischievous, especially when you finally play your last card and watch the others scramble.
