Play Urbz - Sims In The City, The (J) Online
Create your character, explore a city, take on odd jobs, complete tasks for locals, and climb the social ladder in Urbz - Sims In The City on Nintendo DS.
Urbz: Sims in the City came out for the Nintendo DS in 2004, developed by Maxis. It was part of that early wave of handheld life sims, a time when developers were still figuring out how to translate the open-ended, domestic feel of The Sims onto a smaller, dual-screen device. This one took the formula out of the suburbs and dropped it straight into a stylized, vertical city.
You control a custom character trying to climb the social ladder from a penniless newcomer to a neighborhood legend. The main goal is to earn reputation points across different city districts, each with its own cliques and challenges. You do this by taking on odd jobs, like breakdancing for cash or selling questionable food, and by completing tasks for the locals, which sometimes means arguing with literal rats. Exploration is screen by screen, moving up and down the city's levels to find new opportunities and resources. The pacing is fairly open; you choose which goals to pursue, though some tasks can feel repetitive after a while. It feels like a scrappy, slightly chaotic scramble for respect in a place that does not make it easy.
