Game Overview
Uridium is one of those old-school space shooters that still feels ridiculously fast even today. You're piloting this nimble little fighter, zipping across the tops of massive alien ships that scroll by in this cool pseudo-3D effect—pretty wild for an '80s MS-DOS game. What makes it different? You actually land on the enemy ships mid-battle to sabotage them, which always feels like a risky move when lasers are blasting everywhere.
The controls are tight, and the synth soundtrack pumps you up while you're dodging waves of enemies. Some of those dreadnoughts have these crazy patterns you need to memorize, but pulling off a perfect run where you destroy everything and escape just before the ship blows up? That never gets old. Andrew Braybrook nailed that perfect balance of reflexes and strategy.
If you're into retro shooters that don't hold your hand, Uridium's still one of the best. Just don't blame me when you get obsessed with beating your high score.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
