Game Overview

Video Olympics came out for the Atari 2600 in 1978, published by Atari itself. It was one of those early cartridges that tried to squeeze every bit of fun out of the hardware, offering a collection of Pong variants when the system was still defining what a home console could do.

You control a paddle, or paddles, moving them vertically to hit a ball back and forth. The main objective is simply to outscore your opponent, but the game shifts how you do that across its different modes. You might play standard Pong, foosball with multiple paddles per player, or hockey where sneaking the puck past a goalie matters. The pacing is fast and direct, the difficulty coming from reading angles and timing your blocks. It feels like pure, uncomplicated competition, a test of reflexes against a friend on the same screen.
