Game Overview

Zarch, also known as Virus or Lander in some releases, was a 1987 MS-DOS game developed by David Braben. It was a product of its time, pushing the limits of early 3D polygon graphics on home computers. You pilot a small, fragile lander vehicle tasked with neutralizing a viral infection spreading across a grid of floating platforms.

You control the lander with thrusters for movement and rotation, carefully navigating between platforms to destroy infected cells. The main objective is to clear each screen of the virus while managing limited fuel and a delicate ship that tips easily. Signature mechanics include landing precisely on platforms to refuel and deploy anti-virus units, all while contending with realistic physics that make every maneuver a tense calculation. The pacing is deliberate and the difficulty is unforgiving; a single bad landing often means starting over. It feels like a constant, white-knuckle battle against momentum and gravity.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
