Wanted came out in 1988 as an arcade game from Capcom. It was a light gun shooter, the kind you’d see in arcades back then, where you pick up a plastic revolver and aim at the screen. The setting is a classic Western showdown; you play as a lone outlaw surrounded by enemies who pop up from behind barrels, windows, and desert scenery.
You control your crosshair, shooting bandits as they appear across different scenes. The main goal is to survive each wave, eliminating every enemy before they shoot you. Signature mechanics include timing your shots carefully to avoid wasting bullets, reloading by shooting off-screen, and watching for environmental cues like flickering shadows or moving objects that hint at where targets will emerge. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as more enemies fill the screen with gunfire. It feels tense and immediate, like you’re really in a shootout where one missed shot can end your run.
