Warplock came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982, published by Data Age. It was one of those early space shooters that tried to do something a little different with the hardware, using the paddle controller instead of the joystick for a unique kind of movement. The game didn't get a lot of attention back then, but it had its own quiet place in the lineup.

You control a small ship that drifts slowly through space, spinning freely with the paddle. Your goal is to survive waves of enemy ships that approach from all sides. The main mechanics involve rotating your ship to aim and firing at enemies; hitting one often causes a chain reaction, destroying several at once. The enemies eventually fire back with laser shots, forcing you to dodge while managing your position. The pacing is tense, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as more aggressive ships appear. It feels like a desperate, spinning fight for survival where every shot and every turn matters.
