Game Overview

Winning Post 2 on SNES is one of those weirdly addictive Koei sims where you spend way too much time obsessing over horse stats. At first glance, it looks like a straightforward racing game, but then you realize you're basically running a whole stable—breeding, training, and racing thoroughbreds across multiple seasons.

The menus are pure 90s Koei (read: kinda clunky), but there's something satisfying about watching your no-name foal slowly turn into a champion. The races themselves play out in this weird pseudo-3D view where the horses look like little polygonal blobs, but I swear you'll still cheer when your longshot comes from behind. Just don't get too attached—retirement hits hard when your star horse ages out.

It's definitely more spreadsheet than spectacle, but in that specific way only old Koei games manage to pull off.
