Play Witchaven Online
You're a knight hacking through claustrophobic tunnels under a volcano, swinging swords at chanting witches and leveling up just to survive—because apparently stopping eldritch horrors is now your day job.
Witchaven is one of those weird, janky Build Engine gems from the mid-90s that tried to be more than just another Doom clone. You play as Grondovol, some poor knight sent to storm a witch’s lair under a volcano—because apparently that’s what passes for a reasonable mission in fantasy land.
It’s technically an FPS, but you’ll spend half your time whacking skeletons with swords instead of shooting. There’s some light RPG stuff too, like leveling up stats, which feels oddly satisfying when you finally stop getting wrecked by basic enemies. The whole thing has this grimy, claustrophobic vibe—most of the game takes place in these twisting underground tunnels filled with witches chanting creepy spells.
Plot’s wild: the big bad witch is trying to tear open reality to let Lovecraftian horrors into our world, and you’re basically racing against time before she finishes her ritual. Classic 90s cheese, complete with pixelated gore and awkward voice acting. Not gonna lie, the controls haven’t aged great, but there’s something charming about its ambition. If you can stomach the jank, it’s a neat relic of the era when FPS games were still figuring out what they could be.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
