Wizard Fire came out in 1992 as an arcade cabinet release from Data East. It was part of that wave of fantasy themed beat 'em ups that showed up alongside games like Golden Axe, though it leaned more into magic and item collection. You don't see it in many arcades now, but it had its own look and feel for the time.

You pick one of four elf characters, each with a different weapon and magic specialty, and fight through side scrolling stages packed with monsters. The main goal is to clear each screen of enemies and gather pieces of a sacred artifact to reassemble it. You use a mix of close range attacks with your sword or axe and screen clearing magic spells that drain a separate mana bar. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike quickly, especially when enemies swarm from all sides. It feels frantic but satisfying when a well timed spell clears the room.
