Wolfsbane, released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, was developed by a small team whose name escapes me now. It came out during that era when side-scrolling action games were common, but few tried to blend horror elements with such unforgiving platforming. You control a knight tasked with cleansing a cursed castle overrun by lycanthropes, armed with little more than a sword and your own reflexes.

You move screen by screen, fighting werewolves that respawn if you leave and return, which forces you to clear areas thoroughly. Combat relies on timing your sword swings carefully; mistime an attack and you take damage from a counter-lunge. The platforming demands precision, with jumps that must be pixel-perfect to avoid pitfalls or enemy ambushes. It's a difficult game, often frustrating, but beating a tough section brings a real sense of accomplishment. Playing it feels like slowly mastering a stubborn, dangerous instrument.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
