At first, the controls feel a little cramped (it is the DS), but after a match or two, you’re pulling off finishers without thinking.
Creating your own wrestler is weirdly addictive, even if the customization options aren’t as deep as the console versions. I spent way too long tweaking entrance music and taunts before realizing my guy still fought like a drunk giraffe. The career mode’s where it’s at—climbing the ranks feels satisfying, especially when you finally take down someone like Batista after getting your butt kicked three times in a row.
It’s not perfect—the graphics are what you’d expect from a 2009 DS game—but the commentary and crowd noise actually make it feel like a proper WWE event. Just don’t expect to play this one quietly on public transport unless you want weird looks during chair-shot moments.
