Play WWF Betrayal (USA, Europe) Online
Tiny WWE legends like The Rock and Stone Cold brawl through streets and sewers, suplexing random thugs in this janky but weirdly fun GBC beat 'em up. The finishers feel great when you land 'em.
WWF Betrayal came out in 2001 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Natsume. It was a time when handheld wrestling games were mostly straightforward brawlers, but this one tried something a little different. Instead of another ring-based fighter, it sent you out into the world on a mission.
You control a WWF superstar, initially The Rock, with others unlockable, navigating side-scrolling city streets and indoor areas. Your goal is to rescue Stephanie McMahon from a kidnapping, fighting through waves of generic enemies along the way. The game mixes simple beat 'em up combat with light exploration; you punch, kick, and grapple foes, building up a special meter to unleash signature finishers. You move screen by screen, occasionally backtracking to open new paths or find keys. The pacing is brisk, though the difficulty can spike with certain enemy types. It feels a bit rough around the edges, but pulling off a People's Elbow on some goon never gets old.
