Game Overview

I picked up X-Men: The Official Game on Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a tie-in with the movie that came out the same year. It was developed by WayForward and published by Activision, which meant it had some solid talent behind it. On the GBA, it fit right in with the action platformers of the time, straightforward and built for quick sessions.

You control Wolverine, Iceman, and Nightcrawler, each with unique moves. Wolverine slashes through enemies with his claws, Iceman shoots ice beams and can freeze platforms to cross gaps, and Nightcrawler teleports short distances to avoid hazards or reach new areas. The goal is to fight through levels filled with enemies, mostly Sentinels, and occasional bosses. The game moves at a brisk pace, but some sections, especially those requiring precise teleports, can be tricky. It feels satisfying to switch between characters and use their abilities to overcome obstacles.
