Play Xonix Online
You carve up the screen with a cursor, boxing in territory while dodging bouncing enemies—get too greedy and they'll wreck your unfinished lines. Starts chill, ends in sweaty panic as those balls speed up.

Xonix came out in 1984 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a product of programmer Ilia Volkov. It was a simple, geometric game from a time when many titles relied on clean shapes and clear objectives rather than complex graphics or stories.
You control a small square cursor that draws lines across the screen, attempting to claim territory by closing off rectangular sections while avoiding bouncing balls that patrol the area. The main goal is to fill a set percentage of the screen without letting an enemy touch you or your incomplete trail. Key mechanics include strategic path planning to trap enemies in shrinking pockets and timing your movements to avoid the increasingly aggressive balls. The game starts calmly but builds tension as the enemies speed up, demanding quick decisions and precise control. It feels like a careful dance between ambition and caution, where one wrong move can undo minutes of progress.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
