Game Overview
Xyphr is one of those old-school MS-DOS space shooters where you’re skimming just above the surface of some seriously hostile planets. The moment you start, your ship’s already dodging lava geysers and enemy fire—no warm-up, just straight into chaos. That shield of yours feels way too thin at first, but you learn real quick when to duck behind terrain and when to just blast through.
Every planet throws something new at you—acid storms, gravity wells, or these weird floating mines that home in way too fast. The controls are simple, but surviving more than a couple minutes? That’s the real challenge. I kept crashing into the terrain trying to outrun missiles until I figured out the sweet spot between reckless speed and careful maneuvering.
It’s the kind of game where your high score feels earned, not just grinded. One wrong move and you’re back to square one, watching your ship explode in glorious 16-color pixel flames.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
