Hop between babies mid-level—Peach floats, DK climbs, Wario hoards coins—while dodging egg-tossing Shy Guys in these clever, puzzle-like platforming stages.

Yoshi's Island DS came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed and published by Nintendo. It was part of that early DS wave where touch controls were still experimental, but this game stuck to the buttons and d-pad, feeling more like a direct follow-up to the SNES original than something trying to be new for the sake of it.
You control Yoshi, carrying a baby on your back through side-scrolling levels filled with enemies and secrets. The main goal is to reunite the stolen babies, each with a unique ability; Mario lets you dash through blocks, Peach floats gently downward, and Wario attracts metal objects and coins with a magnet. You explore screen by screen, tossing eggs at enemies and targets, often backtracking slightly to use a new baby's skill to reach a previously inaccessible area. The pacing is deliberate, with levels that reward careful observation over speed, and the difficulty can spike in later worlds. It feels like a thoughtful, slightly quirky expansion of the Yoshi formula, where swapping babies becomes a natural part of the platforming puzzle.
