Yoshi Touch & Go came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, a game developed and published by Nintendo. It arrived early in the system's life, a time when developers were still figuring out how to use the touch screen in ways that felt essential, not just novel. You control Yoshi and a falling Baby Mario by drawing clouds on the touch screen to create platforms and guide their descent. The main objective is to get them safely to the ground while collecting as many coins and fruit as possible, fending off enemies by circling them with your stylus. The game is split into two distinct phases: a vertical falling section and a side-scrolling run. The pacing is frantic; one mistimed cloud or missed enemy can send Baby Mario floating away, forcing you to quickly draw bubbles to pop and retrieve him. It feels like a constant, delightful scramble where your own quick doodling is the only thing between success and failure.
