Ys III shakes things up from the first two games—instead of the usual top-down view, you're running and jumping through side-scrolling levels this time. Adol finally gets a proper sword swing instead of just bumping into enemies, which feels way more satisfying when you're slashing through monsters. The platforming can be a little stiff (it is an NES game), but the music’s still that classic Ys energy, all synthy and intense. Just don’t expect it to play like the others—this one’s more of a brawler with some light RPG bits.
