You start off with a small squad of units (archers, knights, the usual) and slowly take over territories on these grid-based maps. The twist? You’ve gotta balance recruiting new troops with upgrading your home base, which adds this weirdly satisfying layer of strategy.
At first, I kept losing because I’d blow all my gold on fancy units instead of securing more resource spots. Then I realized the game rewards patience—holding key chokepoints and picking fights carefully matters way more than brute force. The Japanese text can be a hurdle, but if you’ve played enough SRPGs, the icons and menus eventually make sense. It’s not the deepest tactics game out there, but there’s something addictive about watching your little army snowball across the map.
