Game Overview
If you're into Yu-Gi-Oh!, this DS game is basically the 2010 championship experience in your pocket. You start off with a basic deck—nothing fancy—but after a few duels against the AI, you quickly realize how much better your cards could be. The story mode throws you into the 5D's universe, complete with turbo duels (yes, the motorcycle duels, though it’s not as flashy as the anime).
What I like is how it forces you to actually think about combos instead of just slapping down the strongest monster. Some of the later opponents will wreck you if you don’t plan ahead. And the card pool? Huge. You’ll spend way too much time tweaking your deck between matches, swapping out traps and synchros until it feels just right.
It’s not perfect—the AI can be a little predictable once you figure out its patterns—but if you’ve ever wanted to test your skills without hunting down physical cards, this is a solid way to do it.
