Zaxxon 3-D takes the classic arcade shooter and throws you into a claustrophobic space battle where everything’s out to get you—enemy fighters, fuel limits, even the walls. At first, it feels like a straightforward dogfight, weaving through swarms of ships while scrambling for weapon upgrades and fuel (which drains way too fast, by the way).
Then suddenly, the game flips on you—now you’re barreling down a narrow 3D tunnel, dodging obstacles while trying to pick off ground targets. It’s disorienting in the best way, especially on the Master System’s hardware. And just when you think you’ve got the rhythm, the boss fight hits like a brick wall. Good luck figuring that one out on your first try.
