Game Overview
Zidane: Football Generation on the Game Boy Color is one of those old-school football games that somehow feels both simple and surprisingly deep. You pick from 16 national teams—some are clearly stronger than others, so good luck if you go for the underdog. Matches play out in three different camera angles, which was pretty fancy for a GBC game at the time.
There’s a quick arcade mode if you just want to jump in, but the real meat is the tournament mode where you can actually save your progress (a lifesaver). And yeah, Zidane’s in it—though don’t expect flashy animations or anything, this is still pixelated Game Boy football. It’s got that rough charm where the controls take a minute to click, but once they do, you’ll be sliding tackles and launching long shots like it’s 2001 again.
