Play Zillion (v1.1) Online

You play as some space agent sneaking through a maze-like alien base, timing shots between your overheating laser and memorizing drone patrols—it’s clunky but weirdly satisfying once it clicks.

Game Overview

Zillion on the Sega Master System feels like a weird, stripped-down Metroid with a laser pistol instead of a morph ball. You play as JJ, some space agent dude who has to sneak around this alien base grabbing floppy disks (because it's the 80s, I guess). The controls take some getting used to—your gun overheats if you spam shots, and you'll die a lot figuring out the weird jump physics.

What's cool is how the base layout loops around on itself, so you're constantly backtracking through dimly lit corridors once you find new keycards. The music has that classic Sega FM synth sound that either gives you nostalgia or a headache, depending on your tolerance for beeps. It's janky, but there's something oddly satisfying about memorizing the patrol patterns of those floating drone enemies.

Just don't expect much story—you're basically a pixelated guy in a jumpsuit shooting robots for data storage. Still, it's got that old-school charm where every death feels like your fault rather than cheap design.
