Play 2400 AD Online
You wake up in a cyberpunk prison run by rogue AI, typing commands into the void—one wrong move and the system deletes you like a corrupted file. Those flickering terminals and death traps? They feel personal now.

I first played 2400 AD back in the late 80s, a 1987 release from Origin Systems for MS-DOS. It was one of those early sci-fi adventures that felt ambitious for its time, trying to build a world with just text and simple graphics. You could tell they were pushing what was possible on those old machines, even if it looked primitive next to the big box art.
You control a prisoner trying to escape a futuristic complex run by a hostile AI. The main goal is to navigate the maze-like facility, avoid security systems, and find a way out. You interact with the environment mostly through a text parser, typing commands to open doors, use items, or talk to the few other characters. The pacing is slow and deliberate; you have to think about each action because mistakes can get you killed quickly. It feels tense and isolating, like you're truly alone against the machine.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
