Game Overview

Ever wanted to run a railroad empire while also dabbling in real estate? A-Train is that weirdly addictive MS-DOS sim where you lay tracks, manage schedules, and watch your tiny trains chug between cities. At first, it feels like a simple transport game—until you realize you can buy up land, manipulate stock prices, and accidentally bankrupt your entire company by overspending on fancy express trains.

The 1992 Maxis version (the one most people remember) has this oddly satisfying pace—you’ll tweak timetables one minute, then panic when a landslide blocks your main line. The graphics are charmingly primitive, but there’s something hypnotic about watching your little pixelated trains crawl across the map. Just don’t expect hand-holding; this game throws you into the deep end with spreadsheets and no tutorials.

It’s the kind of game where you lose three hours because you *had* to optimize the 4:15 PM commuter run.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
