Game Overview
Act Raiser 2 ditches the city-building stuff from the first game and goes all-in on action. You play as The Master (basically a god with a sword) fighting through Tanzra’s army of demons—think floating eyeballs, giant worms, and these creepy knights that split in half when you hit them. The opening cutscene sets the mood with this over-the-top battle between heaven and hell, complete with dramatic lightning and a villain who just won’t stay dead.
The controls take some getting used to—your jumps feel floaty at first, and the sword swings aren’t as snappy as, say, Super Castlevania. But once you adjust, there’s something satisfying about carving through hordes of monsters with those screen-filling special attacks. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand; some of those platforming sections are brutal.
Oh, and the soundtrack? Absolute fire. Like, "pause-the-game-just-to-listen" good. It’s a shame they dropped the sim elements, but if you’re here for pure, chaotic side-scrolling combat, this delivers.
