Game Overview

Advantage Tennis was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several titles from the early 1990s. It was developed by a small team whose name isn't widely remembered today, but the game fits right into that era of straightforward, no-frills sports simulations. You won't find elaborate graphics or licensed players here; it's pure, functional tennis meant to run on the hardware of the day.

You control a single player from a side view of the court, using the keyboard to move, swing, and aim your shots. The main objective is simple: outscore your opponent in sets by returning the ball effectively and forcing errors. Signature mechanics include timing your swings for different shot types, like lobs or slams, and positioning your player to cover the court efficiently. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably as you face more aggressive AI opponents who exploit weak returns. It feels satisfying to get into a long rally, reading the ball's trajectory and finally placing a winner just out of reach.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
