Play All-American College Football Online
Pick plays from a menu, then mash keys to dodge 8-bit linebackers who somehow always know your next move. That pixelated touchdown dance still hits.
All-American College Football came out in 1993, published by Micro Sports as part of their MS-DOS Classic Games line. It was one of many football titles from that era, running on machines where you still had to type commands to get things started. The graphics were simple, the sound was basic, but it captured the feel of a Saturday afternoon game.
You control the offense, calling plays from a menu before each down. Once the ball is snapped, you guide your quarterback or running back with the keyboard, trying to find gaps in the defense. The main objective is to move the ball downfield and score touchdowns. Signature mechanics include selecting offensive formations and then executing the play in real time, with defenders reacting to your movements. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially against tougher CPU teams. It feels like a genuine, if stripped-down, simulation of calling your own shots on the field.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
