Altered Beast is one of those games that just feels arcade-y in the best way. You start off as this kinda scrawny resurrected warrior, punching your way through undead hordes—until you collect enough spirit orbs from enemies and suddenly boom, you transform into a massive werewolf with claws that shred everything. The power jump is ridiculous (in a good way).

Each level locks you into a new beast form—dragon, bear, tiger—and they all play totally differently. The dragon’s fire breath clears screens, while the werewolf just mauls things up close. The Greek mythology vibe is cheesy but fun, with Zeus yelling "RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE" at the start like some over-the-top announcer.

Co-op’s a blast too, especially when you and a friend both hit beast mode and the screen becomes pure chaos. Just don’t expect deep storytelling—this is all about smashing skeletons and feeling overpowered. The final boss against Neff is a proper spectacle, though good luck getting there without a few continues.
