Play American Gladiators on Snes Online

Pick a contestant and get wrecked by roided-up gladiators in ridiculous events—climbing wobbly ladders while dodging tennis balls, then eating dirt in the chaotic Eliminator finale. It’s as gloriously dumb as the show, spandex and all.

Game Overview

American Gladiators on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1993, developed by Incredible Technologies. It was one of those licensed games that tried to capture the over-the-top physical competition of the TV show, fitting right in with the era's love for turning popular media into pixelated challenges.

You control a contestant competing in a series of minigames against the AI-controlled gladiators. The main goal is to outscore your opponent in events like Joust, where you try to knock each other off platforms with giant q-tips, or the Wall, a timed climb while avoiding projectiles. Each event uses simple, repetitive button mashing or directional movements, and the difficulty spikes sharply, especially in the final Eliminator obstacle course. It feels like a chaotic, sometimes frustrating, but strangely addictive recreation of the show's spectacle.
