Play Animal Buranden - Brutal (Japan) Online

Pick a lion or cheetah and punch your way through other animals in this janky SNES fighter—either bulldoze through with heavy hits or zip around with quick strikes while the AI gets unfairly mean. That lion’s over-the-top roar alone makes it worth a few rounds.

Game Overview

Animal Buranden - Brutal is one of those weird, forgotten SNES fighting games where you pick either a lion or a cheetah warrior and just... beat up other animals. It's got that early '90s arcade vibe—simple controls, flashy special moves, and enemies that get way too aggressive after the first couple fights. The lion feels slower but hits like a truck, while the cheetah's all about speed. Honestly, I kept picking the lion because his roar animation is ridiculous in the best way.

The stages scroll sideways like an old-school beat 'em up, but it's really just one-on-one fights back-to-back. Some of the later animal rivals get cheap with their attacks, so you'll mash buttons harder than you'd expect for a game about cartoon beasts punching each other. It's janky, but in that charming "of course this exists on the SNES" way. If you're into obscure fighting games, this one's a weird little time capsule.
