Play Arthur - The Quest for Excalibur Online

You play as a clumsy Arthur fumbling through medieval mishaps—convincing wizards with turnips, getting roasted by rocks, and somehow still ending up king. The pixel art and dry humor make every failure weirdly charming.

Game Overview

Arthur: The Quest for Excalibur came out in 1989 for MS-DOS, developed and published by Infocom. It was part of that wave of late 80s adventure games where text parsers and simple graphics worked together to build a world. The game doesn't try to be epic; it's grounded in a kind of everyday medieval absurdity that feels very much of its time.

You control Arthur, a young squire who is more enthusiastic than skilled. Your goal is to prove yourself worthy of pulling Excalibur from the stone. You move screen by screen, interacting with objects and characters through typed commands, solving puzzles that often rely on observation and timing rather than combat. The pacing is deliberate, and some puzzles can be quite tricky, demanding patience. It feels like slowly untangling a clever, humorous story where your own mistakes are part of the fun.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
