Game Overview
This GBC version of Asteroids is one of those late '90s arcade remakes that actually got it right. The chunky pixel explosions when you blast apart asteroids feel way more satisfying than the original's wireframe graphics, and the little thruster flames on your ship look surprisingly good for Game Boy Color.
They added some neat twists too—power-ups float by occasionally (grab the purple one for homing missiles), and there's this tense "survival mode" where the screen slowly fills with debris. My first run ended embarrassingly fast when I got sandwiched between two spinning space rocks.
It's still the same simple, addictive loop at its core: dodge, shoot, repeat until your thumbs ache. Just with enough new stuff to make it feel fresh.
