Asylum came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Senscape. It belongs to that era of PC gaming where developers were pushing the limits of what a simple, screen-by-screen adventure could deliver in terms of atmosphere and player immersion, without relying on extensive cutscenes or voice acting.

You control a lone character navigating a foreboding, maze-like institution, room by room. Your main goal is to explore the environment, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover the dark secrets hidden within the asylum's walls. The game emphasizes methodical exploration, inventory-based puzzle solving, and tense moments of evasion or confrontation with the asylum's unsettling inhabitants. The pacing is deliberate, often slow, which amplifies the feeling of dread and isolation. Playing it feels like being trapped in a waking nightmare where every creak and shadow holds a potential threat.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
