Play Atomix Online
Slide atoms around a grid to build molecules, plan your moves carefully, and avoid obstacles in this classic puzzle game from 1990.
Atomix came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Softouch Productions. It was one of those thoughtful puzzle games that felt right at home on the platform, sitting alongside other logic-heavy titles that didn't rely on flashy graphics to hold your attention.
You control individual atoms on a grid, sliding them one at a time to form specific molecular structures shown at the start of each level. The main objective is to assemble the target molecule by carefully bumping atoms together so they bond. Key mechanics include planning each atom's path to avoid obstacles, anticipating ricochets off walls, and managing limited moves. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with difficulty ramping up sharply as molecules grow more complex. It feels like a mix of careful strategy and quiet frustration when a single misstep ruins your entire setup.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
