Play Austerlitz Online
Command pixelated troops through musket smoke and marshes—one wrong move and Napoleon’s masterpiece becomes your disaster.

Austerlitz is a strategy game from the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, released in 1990 by developer and publisher Strategic Simulations, Inc. It simulates the Battle of Austerlitz, a major engagement of the Napoleonic Wars, and fits squarely within the tradition of turn-based historical wargames that were common on the platform during that era.
You command either the French or Allied forces, maneuvering brigades and divisions across a hex-based map of the battlefield. The main objective is to outmaneuver and defeat the enemy by controlling key positions and breaking their morale. Signature mechanics include detailed command and control, where units respond differently based on their leadership and fatigue, and the impactful use of terrain for defensive bonuses or concealment. The pacing is deliberate, with turns representing short intervals of time, and the difficulty arises from managing large formations under historically constrained communication. It feels like conducting a complex, slow-motion chess match where every decision carries the weight of command.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
