Game Overview
Bank Panic is one of those arcade-style Sega Master System games that’s simple to pick up but surprisingly tense once you get into it. You play as a lone gunslinger guarding a bank with 12 doors—though only three are visible at a time—and bandits keep popping up, trying to rob the place. The trick? You’ve got to wait until they actually pull their gun on you before shooting, or you barely get any points. Too slow, though, and they’ll blast you first.
It’s not just about reflexes, either. Some doors have innocent customers dropping off gold, and shooting them costs you a life. Then there are the little twists—like bandits suddenly taking hostages, or dynamite getting stuck to a door that you’ve got to shoot before it blows. My favorite is the cowboy with the stack of hats—if you shoot them all off in time, you get a nice bonus. The rounds get faster and trickier, with bandits blocking shots or hiding behind hostages. And yeah, the timer’s always breathing down your neck.
It’s got that classic arcade feel where every mistake stings, but you keep telling yourself "one more try." The pixel art’s charming, and the tension never really lets up. Just don’t blame me when you lose your last life to some sneaky dynamite.
