Battle Bots Design & Destroy is one of those GBA games that feels simple at first, but gets surprisingly deep once you start tinkering. You spend most of your time in the garage, swapping out parts like saw blades and flamethrowers, trying to balance speed and armor. The first bot I built was way too slow, just lumbering around the arena while faster opponents picked it apart.

The fights themselves are chaotic, with sparks flying and parts breaking off mid-battle. Sometimes a well-placed hit sends a bot spinning across the screen, which never gets old. The customization is the real draw though—you can make something ridiculous like a spinning death wheel or a tanky brick that just won’t die.

It’s not perfect—some parts feel useless, and the AI can be predictable after a while. But for a GBA game about building killer robots, it holds up better than you’d expect.
