Game Overview

Battle Bots Design & Destroy came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Cave Barn and published by Ubisoft. It was part of that wave of portable games that tried to capture the fun of building and fighting with robots, a concept that felt right at home on the GBA's small screen alongside other construction and combat titles of the era.

You control a robot you built from scratch, choosing its chassis, weapons, and armor before sending it into an arena to fight other bots. The main goal is to destroy your opponent before they destroy you, using weapons like spinning saws, hammers, or projectile launchers. Key mechanics include a detailed workshop for assembling your bot part by part and managing its weight and power distribution for balance. The fights are fast and often chaotic, with a difficulty that encourages you to go back and tweak your designs after a loss. It feels satisfying to see a creation you pieced together yourself hold its own in a fight.
