Play Beauty and the Beast (Europe) (Beta) Online

You swap between Belle and the Beast, dodging angry dishware and jumping through the chateau—controls feel rough, but spotting movie details like Gaston’s goons makes it weirdly endearing.

Game Overview

Beauty and the Beast for the Super Nintendo was an unreleased beta developed by Probe Software and published by Hudson Soft. It arrived during the SNES era when many developers were experimenting with licensed platformers, and this title was one of several attempts to adapt Disney's animated film into an interactive experience.

You control Belle and the Beast separately across side-scrolling stages set in the castle and village. The main goal is to progress screen by screen, avoiding enemies like enchanted objects and Gaston's allies, while occasionally switching characters to use their unique abilities. Signature mechanics include jumping on floating books to cross gaps and using Beast's strength to break certain barriers. The pacing is deliberate, and the controls can feel a bit stiff, making some jumps and enemy encounters more challenging than expected. Playing it feels like navigating a slightly unpolished but earnest tribute to the film.
