Play Beethovens 2nd on Msdos Online

Hi-Tech Expressions released Beethoven's 2nd for MS-DOS in 1994, part of their MS-DOS Classic Games lineup. It was one of those many licensed platformers from the era, based on the family film about the St. Bernard and his puppies. You got it on a floppy disk, and it ran in that classic 256-color VGA mode that was standard for the time.

You control the mother St. Bernard, Missy, navigating through side-scrolling levels to find and rescue all of her four lost puppies. The main objective is to explore each stage thoroughly, checking behind furniture and inside doghouses to collect your pups while avoiding hazards like garden gnomes and rolling balls. Two signature mechanics are carrying puppies in your mouth to deposit them at a safe zone and a bark attack to stun enemies temporarily. The pacing is methodical, as you often need to backtrack through screens once you have a puppy, and the difficulty comes from managing multiple puppies at once while dodging obstacles. It feels like a chaotic, silly chore most of the time, but there's a simple charm in finally getting all the puppies home.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
