Play Block Out Online
Rotate and position 3D tetrominoes to clear layers in this arcade puzzle game where depth perception is key and the challenge ramps up fast.
Block Out came out in 1989 as an arcade game from PZK, a Polish developer. It was part of that era where puzzle games were moving beyond two dimensions, offering something a little more spatial and disorienting than the flat grids people were used to. It didn't have the flash of some other titles, but it had a clever hook that made you stop and drop a few coins.
You control a three-dimensional tetromino as it falls into a pit. Your goal is to rotate and position these shapes to form complete horizontal layers, which then vanish. The main mechanics involve rotating the block along multiple axes and shifting it across the grid to find a fit. The pace starts slow but builds relentlessly, and the isometric perspective adds a constant, subtle challenge to judging depth. It feels like a race against your own spatial reasoning, and when a layer clears, there's a genuine moment of relief before the next block drops.
