Game Overview

A Boy and His Blob: The Rescue of Princess Blobette is one of those weird, wonderful Game Boy games that sticks with you. You’ve got this kid and his squishy blob pal—who, by the way, turns into ladders, trampolines, or whatever else you need, as long as you feed him the right jellybean. It’s like someone took a puzzle game and made it adorable.

The first few levels ease you in, but pretty soon you’re staring at a gap or a high ledge, digging through your jellybean stash to figure out which one turns your blob into a bridge versus a parachute. Messing up is half the fun—accidentally turning him into an umbrella when you meant to make a ladder never gets old.

It’s janky in that classic Game Boy way, but there’s real charm in how creative the solutions can get. And yeah, the whole "save the princess" thing is just an excuse for the blob’s weird transformations, but that’s part of the appeal. If you’ve got a soft spot for oddball retro games, this one’s a delight.
