Breach 2 came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Omnitrend Software. It was a turn-based tactical game from an era when strategy titles demanded patience and precision, not just flashy graphics. You controlled a small team of soldiers, moving them across grid-based maps in a sci-fi setting where every decision carried weight.
You issue orders to each squad member individually, positioning them behind cover, choosing their weapons, and managing limited ammunition. The main goal is to complete missions, often involving securing objectives or eliminating all hostiles, without getting your entire team killed. Signature mechanics include line-of-sight calculations, which determine if you or an enemy can fire, and an action point system governing movement and attacks. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, because rushing leads to quick, permanent deaths. It feels like playing a very lethal game of chess where the board is trying to shoot back.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
